The Pink Elephant has been a restaurant since 1960.

The building itself is very much older, being one of the oldest houses around.
​
It is set on a spectacular site overlooking Courtmacsherry Bay just at the point where the Kilbrittain and Argideen estuaries merge to enter the Atlantic Ocean.
